
Two U.S. toddlers have been shot within hours of each other, both by siblings who found guns in their homes. Both incidents occurred on Thursday night.
In Las Vegas, a two-year-old girl was in a critical condition after being shot by her four-year-old brother at their home. The father was at home at the time of the incident, but nevertheless, the four-year-old managed to get his hands on a 9mm handgun.
In South Carolina, a four-year-old boy was shot in the stomach by his three-year-old brother, once again after his sibling found a gun. The two boys and their father had stayed overnight at a family friend's house, but the two-year-old found a .22 handgun under his bed when he awoke in the middle of the night and accidentally shot his brother.
These shootings come less than a week after a five-year-old boy, Giovanni Kopystenski, shot himself in the head, killing himself with a handgun he found in his father's car. That incident occurred on Monday night,
Giovanni Kopystenski's father, 31-year-old Alex Kopystenski, has been charged with child endangerment.
