A man has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of two-time former American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen. Daniel Bark, 23, was arrested at 6 p.m. Sunday in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, and is being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River.
If convicted of Alexis Cohen's death, Bark could serve 10 to 15 years. Bail has been set at $35,000.
Alexis Cohen was found early Saturday morning in Seaside Heights. While originally it was reported that Alexis Cohen's body was found at 4AM on Saturday, police now say they were called at 5:05 AM by a driver and passenger who saw the body while passing the intersection of Bay Boulevard and Dupont Avenue in Seaside Heights. Cohen was pronounced dead at 6:30 AM.
While never a making it to the Hollywood round on American Idol, Cohen auditioned twice, and it were her acidic remarks pointed at judge Simon Cowell that earned her notoriety.
In 2007, besides an expletive-laden reaction to her failure, Alexis Cohen also capped things off by flipping off the camera, after asking several times "why do I feel like flipping off the camera."
You can watch the action in a video of her 2007 audition, here.
