Infanticide is horrific, but this has to be the most disgusting occurrence of infanticide that could ever happen. Otty Sanchez, 33, of San Antonio, TX, did not just allegedly murder her 3 1/2 week-old-son, police reported on Monday that she used a knife and two swords to dismember him and eat portions of his brain.
Not that it makes a difference, but after all that, Otty Sanchez stabbed herself in the torso and slit her own throat, though she did not die. She is currently recovering from her wounds at a hospital, and is being charged with capital murder. Her bail has been set at $1 million, though why any bail is allowed is beyond me.
Why did she do it? According to Otty Sanchez, she did it because "the devil" told her to kill her son, Scott Wesley Buchholtz-Sanchez. The incident occurred approximately one week after the boy's father left (small wonder that he left, honestly).
Otty Sanchez's sister and her sister's two children, ages 5 and 7, were in the house during the incident. However, none were harmed.
Gloria Sanchez, Otty's aunt, said Monday that her niece had been "in and out of a psychiatric ward." It seems evident that there was a psychological problem there; hearing voices is a symptom of schizophrenia.
