Deadly Doctors Exist Now, in the Health Insurance Industry

I wrote earlier about Sarah Palin's rant about Obama and a so-called "Death Panel," which would decide who gets treatment based on their possible "level of productivity" in society. That rant was based, in part, on an op-ed by Lt. Gov. of New York, Betsy McCaughey, "Deadly Doctors."

The problem "Deadly Doctors," and with both of these rants is that they imply that the health care reform currently moving through comments would ration health care, to the point of euthanasia. What's wrong with that view is there's already such a bureaucracy in place: it's called the health care industry.

The health insurance industry already doles out and denies care every day. Instead of hyperbolic headlines like "Deadly Doctors," how about "Deadly Health Insurance Coordinators?"

The problem with this country is that people are far too gullible and do no fact-checking. "Deadly Doctors," feh. If a public option is so bad, why is it every other industrialized nation has a form of it?

Is it because we are the only ones who are right and everyone else is wrong? If "Deadly Doctors" were to exist in a public option, why do countries such as the U.K., Canada, and even the third-world country of Cuba have lifespans as long or longer than us, and a lower infant mortality rate?

"Deadly Doctors" and other such rants play to the fear in America. Instead of open and errant fear, do some research instead. Go to UNICEF's website, take a look at their statistics by country, and compare. Do your homework, before you decide.
