Jennifer Hudson Gives Birth to a Baby Boy

Oscar award-winner Jennifer Hudson now has a new award, as on Monday she gave birth to a baby boy, her first child, David Daniel Otunga Jr. He is named after her fiance, David Otunga. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

News of Jennifer Hudson giving birth was first reported by Showbiz411. Interestingly, she had hidden the fact of her pregnancy until she actually gave birth.

Some of that was caution, and some superstition. After all, most women hold back the news of a pregnancy until after the risky first trimester. Jennifer Hudson may have had another reason.

After all, giving birth is a welcome moment, but Jennifer Hudson faced tragedy last fall when her mother, brother and nephew were slain in her home town of Chicago. Her sister's estranged husband is charged with the killings.

Jennifer Hudson first gained fame as a finalist on "American Idol." She won her Academy Award in 2007n as best supporting actress for her portrayal of Effie in "Dreamgirls."Earlier this year, she won a Grammy for best R&B album for her self-titled debut CD.
