Today is Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen

It's not a free giveaway day, but it's all for a good cause. Since 1984, Dairy Queen's "Miracle Treat Day" has raised over $77 million for the Children's Miracle Network. August 13, 2009 is another such Miracle Treat Day.

The Children's Miracle Network raises funds for over 170 children's hospitals. These funds go to research, education and care for over 17 million children each year. How does Dairy Queen "Miracle Treat Day" work?

If you'd like to donate, but still get a treat in return, "Miracle Treat Day" is for you. If you head over to a participating Dairy Queen and purchase a Blizzard, Dairy Queen will donate at least a $1 to the Children's Miracle Network. It's unclear what "at least" means, however.

Dairy Queen's Blizzard is a definite treat, and if you're interested in finding a participating location, it's pretty easy. Head over to the "Miracle Treat Day" site and plug in your zip code.

Unfortunately for those who are lactose-intolerant, a Blizzard has plenty of milk products in it. However, you can always, if you're so afflicted, skip Dairy Queen altogether and donate directly at the Children's Miracle Network site.
