
Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a former follower of Charles Manson, has been released from prison, it was reported Friday. Fromme was not involved in the famous "Tate-LaBianca" murders.
What Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was convicted of was trying to assassinate President Gerald Ford in September 1975 in Sacramento, Calif. Secret Service agents grabbed her and Ford was unhurt. Fromme was 26 then. She is now 60.
Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was released from Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth at about 8 AM Friday. Fromme had released a life term for her crime.
Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme escaped from a female prison in Alderson, W.Va., on Dec. 23, 1987, and was recaptured about two miles away on Christmas Day. At the time, Fromme said she escaped from prison to be closer to Manson. She was sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison for the escape.
Charles Manson is serving a life term in San Quentin in California for the 1969 "Tate-LaBianca" murders. In those crimes, actress Sharon Tate and eight others were brutally murdered. As I indicated, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was not implicated in those attacks.
