This certainly casts some doubt on the veracity of this witness, although it does nothing to erase to multiple positive drug test results. The stepmother of Jeremy Mayfield and a witness for NASCAR in defending its suspension of the Sprint Cup driver, was arrested Saturday night after an incident at his Catawba County house. That's Lisa Mayfield's none-too-pretty mugshot attached to this post.
Lisa Mayfield was arrested after allegedly banging on the door of Jeremy Mayfields house. She was reportedly "pretty high."
Jeremy Mayfield was suspended by NASCAR on May 9 after testing positive for meth during a random drug test taken eight days earlier. Then, after the suspension was lifted, he tested positive again during a random drug test taken at his home after the suspension was lifted.
Naturally, Mayfield disputes the positive tests, arguing that the results came from combining Claritin-D for allergies with the prescription drug Adderall for ADHD. Right, I'm sure.
Lisa Mayfield's (mugshot be damned) involvement in this comes after she signed an affidavit saying she saw her stepson use meth at least 30 times since 1998. She also said Mayfield "cooked" his own meth until it became too difficult to obtain the ingredients.
Jeremy Mayfield (who if in fact was cooking his own meth, is lucky he doesn't have his own mugshot to put next to Lisa Mayfield's mugshot), has always said her testimony was bogus. In fact, he charges that she killed his father (who committed suicide in 2007). Hard to understand how that works.
Certainly, Lisa Mayfield and her mugshot aren't going to help NASCAR's case, though it his hard to dispute the drug tests. The soap opera continues.
