Hurricane Bill Continues to Churn

Hurricane Bill update: the hurricane continues to churn its way across the Atlantic. In fact, it has been upgraded to a Category 4 hurricane, and is packing winds near 135 mph.

Hurricane Bill's updated path still appears headed toward Bermuda. Landfall, if any, is expected to be in a few days.

It's also possible the storm will miss land, both the U.S. mainland and Bermuda, but more will be known as further Hurricane Bill updates occur. However, it could become a category 5 storm. According to forecasters, the essential ingredients are there to maintain, or even increase Bill's strength, including warm sea temperatures.

As Bill continues to move, it should hopefully begin to encounter increasing wind shear out of the SW and slightly cooler sea temperatures. That could lead to a weakening phase on Friday. Forecasters will continue to issue Hurricane Bill updates.

While Hurricane Bill is the focus, updates on the other two named storms are favorable. Both Ana and Claudette are now tropical depressions.
