The report comes via Page Six. According to an "insider," Derek Jeter, 35, is engaged to actress Minka Kelly, 29. The source states that Jeter and Kelly are telling close friends to "save the date" for a fall wedding.
Naturally when a rumor like this comes out, you expect denials, at least if the couple is trying to keep it all hush-hush. Kelly's rep is saying there is no Derek Jeter engagement.
Derek Jeter has been linked to a string of celebrities during his career. Those include Mariah Carey, Jordana Brewster, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, and Jessica Alba. A Derek Jeter engagement would be big news.
Obviously though, the Yankees would like Jeter to focus on the season. Is a Derek Jeter engagement and wedding in the offing? That's something that Jeter and Kelly only know for sure. The two have been dating since 2008.
"The wedding is being planned and will take place after baseball season is over," said our source. A rep for Kelly said, "There is no fall wedding planned to Derek Jeter." Remember -- Kelly also denied they were dating when we spotted her with Jeter at the Empire Hotel last year.
