Chief Minister of India's Andhra Pradesh, Y.S.R. Reddy, more affectionately known simply as YSR to followers and other legislators, has been found dead after going missing on Wednesday. He was 60.

YSR was found dead, his body atop a hill, according to reports. The dead bodies of four others, two pilots and two of the chief minister's aides, were also recovered from the spot of the accident.

YSR's chopper had gone missing yesterday morning after taking off from the state capital of Hyderabad. The chief minister was flying to Chittoor. There was bad weather, and his chopper crash-landed on a small hill, Serai Salem hill, at a distance 40 nautical miles (70 kms) east of Kurnool.

Soon after the chopper lost contact, state agencies launched a search. The search soon escalated into what some are calling India's biggest-ever search operation. Unfortunately, the operation ended with YSR being found dead.

YSR was very popular, both among peers and followers. Andhra Pradesh finance minister K Rosaiah has been appointed caretaker CM, with YSR now found dead.
