Jesse Mahelona, Former NFL Player, Killed in Car Crash

Jesse Mahelona was draft by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL draft. He played in 10 games as a rookie, but was dropped and played for Dolphins and Falcons in 2007. He last played in a regular season game in 2007, for Atlanta.

Jesse Mahelona was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 7, 2008 after defensive tackle Tywain Myles was waived. He was cut on 08/30/2008.

Jesse Mahelona's agent Chad Speck confirmed his death.

"I spoke to his dad early this morning. Jesse did pass away in car accident in Hawaii. Jesse was a joy to be around, always. He was a guy who was always in a good mood, always funny and laughing, goofy. His relationship with the Lord was strong. He was a guy who always had a smile on his face. He really enjoyed life. That’s how I’ll remember him.”

Jesse Mahelona is survived by his wife, Brandi, and an infant child.
