Best Buy Leaks Third-Generation iPod touch Accessories, Ahead of Apple Event

It appears there are some 5th generation iPod nano cases as well. Perhaps I should use the term "were," really, as the pages have (unsurprisingly) disappeared. Apple is all about pre-event secrecy and you can bet once the news hit about the accessory leak Apple event coordinators told Best Buy to take down the pages, until the official Apple announcement.

It's not really a surprise, however, as all the rumors about the Apple event have centered around an Apple announcement of a new iPod touch and a new iPod nano. Still, it's nice to get confirmation, even if it's less than 24 hours in advance.

Other rumored topics at the Apple event include a possible announcement that the classic, hard-drive-based iPod will get the boot, and that there may be an announcement about the Beatles on iTunes, although that has been discounted recently.

The Beatles rumor began when Apple scheduled the event for September 9th, which is also the day that the Beatles Rock Band game launches and the entire digitally remastered Beatles collection goes on sale, as well. There's always hope, right?

Another possible Apple event topic, and a more probably once, may be an announcement around the new interactive digital album format, codenamed "Cocktail," that Apple and the record labels hope will re-invigorate album sales.

The Apple event is scheduled to begin at 10AM PDT.
