Drew Brees tied a New Orleans Saints record with six touchdown passes on Sunday, leading the Saints over the Lions 45-27 Sunday to extend Detroit's regular-season losing streak to 18. Brees also threw for 358 yards, had one INT, and was 26 out of 34.

Meanwhile, the Lions, who were winless last season, saw the debut of rookie QB Matthew Stafford. His first start had its ups and downs. The top overall draft choice of 2009 was 16 of 37 for 205 yards with three interceptions, no TDs. He did manage a TD on a keeper.

TE Jeremy Shockey finally broke through for the Saints. Two of Drew Brees' TD passes went to him. These were his first scores since being traded from the New York Giants to New Orleans last season.

RB Mike Bell added 28 rushes for 143 yards. In fact, the Saints' offense racked up 515 yards total. Meanwhile, the Lions offense totaled only 231 yards. Only 33 yards came on the ground for DET.

The DET defense added a TD, as Lions safety Louis Delmas also returned a fumble for a 65-yard touchdown. Besides that, Kevin Smith added a 4 yard TD rush, and there was the aforementioned Stafford keeper.
