Washington Upsets No. 3 USC, 16-13

Granted, #3 USC played without freshman star QB Matt Barkley, out with a bruised shoulder, but today's results were still a shocker. Washington shocked USC 16 - 13 with 3 seconds remaining with a last second FG.

Erik Folk kicked a 22-yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining. Meanwhile, and Washington’s defense held down Barkley's fill-in, QB Aaron Corp. USC was held to its lowest point total since a 13-9 loss to UCLA on Dec. 2, 2006.

This is the second straight season that USC has lost its opening Pac-10 game, days after an impressive win over the Ohio State Buckeyes. This has to annoy USC coach Pete Carroll; former Trojans offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is now Washington’s first-year coach.

Aaron Corp, a redshirt sophomore making his first career start, could manage only 13 completions out of 22 attempts for 110 yards and one interception.

Corp began the season at the top of the depth chart, but lost the starting job when he suffered a cracked fibula. However, over the first two games of this season, Barkley was 30 / 50 for 428 yards with one TD and an interception for the (formerly) third-ranked Trojans, who are now 2-1.
