Atlanta Flooding Claims at Least Two

A series of thunderstorms closed schools, highways and railroads across metropolitan Atlanta on Monday. Two people have been confirmed dead and emergency crews are searching for many more reported missing by the Atlanta flooding.

The latest report from local news from the Atlanta flooding is that there is a trapped and occupied school bus held beneath power lines. Emergency crews are on the way.

The Atlanta flooding may affect the PGA tournament scheduled to begin on Sept. 24, which will determine the winner of the FedEx Cup and its $10 million first prize. The course will open to the public on Sept. 23, tournament organizers said.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta flooding has caused at least two deaths. A woman drowned after her car was swept away in rising flood waters in Gwinnett County, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The other death was reported in Douglas County. A man’s body was found downstream from where a car was swept into a creek, the AJC also reported.
