Two men were reportedly removed from a United Airlines N flight at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Authorities indicated they were removed for suspicious behavior, but called the event a false alarm.

Members of the flight crew believed the two men, who were said to be of Middle Eastern descent, to be behaving suspiciously. The flight was said to be bound for New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport with an ultimate destination of Cairo.

However, one would probably characterize this as overreaction. The suspicious behavior was that one of the two men leapt up and headed for the bathroom just before takeoff. The passenger, it was said, "defied" a flight attendant's order to remain seated because he urgently needed to use the restroom.

Realistically, in this "new world," obviously everyone is prone to overreaction, but really. The flight number on the United Airlines flight was 22. The flight is scheduled to leave in the afternoon, now.

There could be a number of reasons that someone would urgently need to visit the restroom, including illness. One has to wonder if things would have been treated differently if he had not been Middle Eastern.
