Dennis Hopper Reportedly Rushed to the Hospital

Actor Dennis Hopper, 73, has been rushed to a New York City hospital. The report was first broken by Entertainment Tonight.

Dennis Hopper was Oscar-nominated for co-writing 1969's "Easy Rider" and for his role in 1986's "Hoosiers." He is is currently starring in a TV version of "Crash," the 2004 Oscar-winning movie, with Eric Roberts, on the StarZ channel.

While initial reports were unclear, later reports noted that Dennis Hopper had developed flu-like symptoms and was transported to an unidentified Manhattan hospital Wednesday afternoon, with an oxygen mask. It would be likely that they are thinking, what else, swine flu.

Still more reports indicate that Dennis Hopper had the stomach ailments usually associated with stomach flu. With his illness, Hopper was forced to cancel a number of interviews and TV appearances, "Today" and "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," where he was replaced by Jack McBrayer of "30 Rock."

Dennis Hopper was on the set of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when the illness set in. He left before appearing, and his appearance was explained on-air. The series of appearances Hopper had planned were in preparation for Season two of Crash, where he plays Ben, a veteran, maverick music producer.
