Fifteen months after they were married, tennis legend Chris Evert and golf great Greg Norman have announced their separation. Norman and Evert are each in the Hall of Fame in their respective sports.
The announcement comes a week before Norman serves as a captain in the Presidents Cup. They did not say if they plan to divorce, but the statement issued was ominous: "We will remain friends and supportive of one another's family." The statement also requested privacy for them and their families.
When they married, Greg Norman was coming out of an ugly divorce from Laura Andrassy, the mother of his two children. That divorce ended with a settlement that paid Andrassy just over $100 million.
Chris Evert had been married twice previously, most recently to Olympic downhill skier Andy Mill, with whom she had three children. They were divorced in December 2006.
Chris Evert and Greg Norman were married June 28, 2008, in The Bahamas. The announcement was made in part to prevent speculation on Evert's absence at the Presidents Cup.
