AP Poll for Week 6 Shows More Stability at the Top

Week 5's polls showed some real shake-ups after upsets changed the rankings significantly. This week, the AP Poll Week 6 doesn't show that sort of movement, at least among the top 10.

One change was Auburn re-entering the AP Poll in Week 6, for the first time this season, making it to 17 with a win over Tennessee, 26-22. That win also improved the Tigers record to 5-0 under new coach Gene Chizik.

Last year, Auburn started in the top 10 for the AP Poll, but fell out of the rankings halfway through the season which ended with a dismal 5-7 record. That led to the controversial ouster of coach Tommy Tuberville.

The top four in the AP Poll Week 6 rankings remained unchanged. Florida is No. 1, Texas No. 2, followed by Alabama and LSU. The Gators play at LSU on Saturday, so there's going to be a change somewhere there. Gator fans are hoping former Heisman winner QB Tim Tebow will be healthy and ready to go.

Virginia Tech moved up a spot in the AP Poll Week 6 rankings to No. 5 and Boise State slipped one to No. 6 after a Boise State's somewhat lackluster 34-16 victory against UC Davis on Saturday.

UC Berkeley fell out of the AP Poll Week 6 rankings. This is the first time this season, and follows a second straight lopsided loss. Going into last week, the Bears were ranked sixth, but were blasted by by the unranked Oregon Ducks, 42-3. This time they lost to USC. USC remained at No. 7 this week.
