Brett Favre had every reason to want to beat the Packers. He's made it clear that he hates Green Bay since they threw his aside for Aaron Rodgers. In this game, he did what he said he would: beat them on the strength of his arm.
In his first game playing for the Vikings against the Packers in 2009, Favre was 24 of 31 for 271 yards, with 3 TDs and no interceptions. Meanwhile, his "replacement," Aaron Rodgers, was 26 of 37 for 384 yards and TDs, but also with an interception. He also lost a fumble and was sacked 7 times, including once for a safety.
Meanwhile, Minnesota's star RB, Adrian Peterson, ran for only 55 yards on 25 carries. That meant that Favre had to carry the team on the strength of his arm, and he showed he still could.
Brett Favre threw TD passes of 1, 14, and 31 yards, to Visanthe Shiancoe, Sidney Rice, Bernard Berrian. Adrian Peterson scored the other TD on a 1 yard TD run.
Aaron Rodgers' TD passes were of 62 and 33 yards to Jermichael Finley and Jordy Nelson. Green Bay's other TD was the result of a fumble run in by Clay Matthews. Minnesota RB Adrian Peterson was the Vikings player who fumbled.
This isn't the end of the Packers vs. Vikings for 2009. Minnesota still has to play GB on Nov. 1st at Lambeau Field. It will be interesting to see how GB fans react to Favre.
