Sunday's Rock n' Roll San Antonio Marathon (and Half Marathon) was only the second ever, but the crowd was rockin' n' rollin' nonetheless. More than 31,000 runners and walkers, from all 50 states and 23 countries, registered to participate. San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro participated in the Marathon, as well.

One reason for the excitement is that the San Antonio Marathon gives you a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon. Qualifiers for the 114th Boston Marathon must meet the designated time standard that corresponds with their age group, and it must be from an official Bost Marathon qualifying event.

On Sunday, Gilbert Koech won the men's San Antonio Marathon. ilbert Koech, 29, is from Kenya, and won with the time of 2:14:39, followed by Laban Moiben, also of Kenya, in 2:15:21 and James Bolt (2:15:43).

On the women's side of the San Antonio Marathon, Tatiana Pushkareva, 24, of Russia won the women's race. She finished in 2:30:30, with fellow Russian Svetlana Ponomarenko second in 2:34:57 and Poland's Dorota Gruca third (2:36:07).

Pushkareva's time in the San Antonio Marathon was her personal bestt. Her prior best was 2:34:55.
