Golf superstar Tiger Woods, 33, hss been listed in serious condition after a single-car auto accident in Florida which occurred at 2:25AM this morning. Reports indicated that the airbags in Tiger Woods's Cadillac Escalade did not deploy. This would indicate either that the airbags were inoperable, or the vehicle was traveling under 33 MPH.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that Tiger Woods pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property. FHP did not report the accident until just after 2 PM EST today. What is most interesting is not just that the accident is under investigation, but that the FHP stated that "charges are pending."
Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. Although his injuries have been listed as serious, there are few details at this point. While the FHP has said charges are pending, they also added that the accident was not alcohol-related.
Tiger Woods was named the PGA Player of the Year in 2009, for the record ninth time. Despite that, for him, it was a sub-par year, as he failed to win a major this year. 2008 was an injury-shortened season, but he still won the Masters.
Tiger Woods owns a home in an exclusive subdivision of Isleworth near Orlando, FL. Orange County property records indicate his home is valued at $2.4 million.
