Celebrity Cell Phones Exposed By Twitter

Aside from Miley Cyrus, who decided either that Twitter was beneath her, or too much time for her proxy, almost all high-profile celebrities have a Twitter account. And that account, if they access it via a smartphone, can be a window into what hot device the celebrity is using.

It's something anyone can find out by checking Twitter streams for celebrities themselves, as these smartphone apps will provide information on just which cell phone they were sent from. For example, if a celebrity uses TwitterBerry, they are using a BlackBerry.

Forbes has gone through the trouble of trolling through Twitter feeds, and determined what smartphone each of the follow celebrities uses. Note that the new term "app phone" is becoming popularized for these new smartphones, which are really centralized around applications (or apps).

Lady Gaga: this pop star uses a BlackBerry Bold, and either TwitterBerry or UberTwitter. It would appear the hot pop star is old school, with a real QWERTY keyboard.

Heidi Montag-Pratt also uses a BlackBerry Bold. Specifically, it's a white one, as in October, when AT&T sent her the white BlackBerry Bold, Montag told her Twitter followers about her new phone. She uses TwitterBerry and sometimes the mobile Web.

Country singer Taylor Swift goes new school with the hottest app phone on the planet, the iPhone. She uses Echofon, Swift's iPhone was even mentioned a Rolling Stone story earlier this year.

50 Cent has an iPhone, and uses Twitterrific, text messages to post to Twitter. It all makes sense; 50 Cent has his "own" iPhone application (the music-mixing app Sound Lab). It's even free.

Captain Kirk uses a communicator. All right, William Shatner, rather, uses a Palm Pre. No app for it yet, he uses the mobile web to post.

Football player Chad Ochocinco uses the Motorola Cliq. The social-networking-centric app phone based on Android is actually perfect for Tweeting, with the built-in MotoBlur software.

Actress Anna Faris doesn't even use a smartphone. She uses the texting-centric LG Rumor2 feature phone.

Some celebrities use app phones that they have been given by manufacturers. As such, Forbes' report may or may not be correct that they are "using" the cell phones, particularly for those who don't use any software at all.

Whoopi Goldberg uses a myTouch 3G cell phone. Considering she's seen in the ads for the devices, it's small wonder.

Jaime Pressly received an Android-based Samsung Behold II at the launch party. It's unclear, however, if she really uses it, as is the case with Taylor Lautner. He was given a Nokia Twist by the Finnish company.
