The huge slow-moving storm that has already blanketed parts of the mid-Atlantic states with up to 2 feet of snow continues to head northward Sunday. At least two NFL games have already been rescheduled because of the storm's impact.
Retailers had been hoping for a Super Saturday sales boost, but on the East Coast, snowfall left stores normally full of last-minute shoppers empty. Meanwhile, at least five deaths have been attributed to the storms.
You've probably seen those NFL Films videos with talk of the "frozen tundra" in some snow-ridden games, but the storm is such that even the staid NFL has had to pay its respects to Mother Nature. It has already pushed back the scheduled start times of games Sunday in Baltimore and Philadelphia.
The San Francisco 49ers - Philadelphia Eagles game was pushed back to the 4:15 PM EST from 1 PM after about 9 inches of snow fell. The Chicago Bears - Baltimore Ravens game in Baltimore also was pushed back to the late-afternoon time, as the Bears didn't even arrive in Baltimore until late Saturday night.
It wasn't just the NFL that was affected. Several college basketball games were postponed. UNC-Wilmington was lready in Charlottesville, but its game against Virginia was postponed until later in the season. The school didn't want to fans coming out in heavy snow and unsafe conditions.
To this point, here is the current NFL schedule for Sunday, December 20th. It still may change. All times are EST.
