The LA Coroner's Office is furious, though they certainly shouldn't be surprised, over the leak of some Brittany Murphy autopsy report information to TMZ. The site got its hands on details on the prescription drugs she was taking at the time, some of which may have triggered the heart attack that ended her life on Sunday morning.
According to the Brittany Murphy autopsy report notes obtained by TMZ, the prescription medications included Topamax (an anti-seizure medication also used to prevent migraines), Fluoxetine (depression), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Klonopin (anti-anxiety), Carbamazepine (Diabetes as well as bipolar symptoms), Ativan (anti-anxiety), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (anti-hypertensive), Biaxin (antibiotic), and Hydrocodone (pain). That is a lot of prescription drugs, though its unclear if Brittany Murphy was taking a cocktail of all of them. Additionally, no alcohol (containers), drug paraphernalia or illegal drugs were found.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told AP that “I’m furious. We don’t normally release partial information. If partial information goes out, it of course makes us look bad. Everybody ought to get it at the same time.”
The full Brittany Murphy autopsy report was not expected for a long time, as toxicology results were not expected for six weeks. Murphy died of an apparent cardiac arrest on Sunday at the age of 32.
So far, the Brittany Murphy autopsy report was inconclusive. The toxicology report would shed additional light on the subject, but this leak is another example of a high-profile celebrity death prompting an investigation. The same resulted after Michael Jackson's death earlier this year.
Brittany Murphy is best-known for her roles in films such as “Girl, Interrupted” and “8 Mile.” Her first big break came in "Clueless." She is also well-known as the voice of Luanne Platter on the animated series “King of the Hill," originally on Fox and now on Cartoon Network in reruns. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
