Fox News, which many have accused of being a conservative opinion network rather than a true news network, has signed up a Rogue as a paid contributor. The New York Times has confirmed that Fox News has signed Sarah Palin to a multiyear deal.
Sarah Palin is both former governor of Alaska and former VP candidate with the McCain GOP ticket from 2008. The news comes as other unflattering revelations about her, from the book "Game Change," also hit news wires.
Sarah Palin will not have a regular program, such as Sean Hannity does. Instead, she will host a series that will run on the network "occasionally." This would be similar to the series that Oliver L. North hosts, called “War Stories.”
Meanwhile, according to reports based on advance copies of the new book, "Game Change," during the 2008 presidential campaign some McCain campaign staffers who worked directly with Sarah Palin began to worry that she could be "mentally unstable."
They were concerned about the misstatements she made, and began to wonder how to best relegate her to the mostly ceremonial role that VPs had, at least until Dick Cheney. They were also concerned about how close she would be, a heartbeat away, from the presidency.
Additionally, on "60 Minutes" on Sunday, Steve Schmidt, one of John McCain's top political strategists during the 2008 campaign, indicated the same thing. Sarah Palin's lack of accuracy was a problem for the campaign.
Additionally, while she became the VP nominee, Schmidt said, after word of a potential Lieberman nomination. He told "60 Minutes" that Palin considered her nomination, "God's plan."
When she left her governorship, it was theorized that a TV slot might be in the works. However, financial terms of the Fox News deal were not disclosed. It is unclear how this might affect any possible candidacy in 2012 Palin may be considering.
