Worse Than Robertson, Rush Limbaugh Haiti Comments Video

While the Pat Robertson Haiti quotes were at least made in reference to religion, Rush Limbaugh took the disaster in Haiti and turned it political on his show this week. The Rush Limbaugh Haiti Comments Video (broadcast on Hardball) is worse than Robertson, taken in that light.

After all, the Rush Limbaugh Haiti Comments video (here) politicizes a terrible tragedy. On his show, Limbaugh stated that "This will play right into [President] Obama's hands, humanitarian, compassionate. They'll use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community, in the both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. It's made to order for them."

It's hard to see those Rush Limbaugh Haiti comments on that video as anything but racist. However, Limbaugh didn't stop there. He went still further.

Rush Limbaugh's Haiti comments included stating that Americans should not donate to help Haiti. First, he said that those going to Whitehouse.gov to find ways to donate to Haiti, would merely get on the President's email list.

That's sheer idiocy, because all one has to do, if one clicks on the link on a site, is look at the URL to see where you have really wound up. You can even look at the URL beforehand. Those at whitehouse.gov, if you examine them by mousing over them, do not show anything besides the correct URL. If they were redirecting to some different URL and then to the Red Cross, for example, it would be obvious.

Finally, Rush Limbaugh also went so far as to say Americans should not donate because ""We've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax." True, the United States does provide aid to underdeveloped nations. Is there something wrong with that?

It's hard to understand Rush Limbaugh's Haiti Comments (video linked above) when you recall how much money he has. Is he simply selfish and cheap?

Finally, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who had earlier commented on Pat Robertson's Haiti Quotes, was questioned about Rush Limbaugh's Haiti Comments. He said: "Again, I think in times of great crisis there are always people that say really stupid things.

"I don't know how anybody could sit where he does, having enjoyed the success that he has, and not feel some measure of sorrow for what has happened in Haiti. I think to use the power of your pulpit to try to convince those not to help their brothers and sisters is sad. My sense is that most people, though, because they understand we're part of an amazing world, won't listen, and instead will seek to help those that they know, because through no fault of their own, have suffered an unspeakable tragedy.''
