Intel Science To Attend State of the Union Address

The State of the Union Address (Time: 9PM EST) will welcome some honored science competition winners tonight. Two young Intel Science Competition Winners will site next to the First Lady during the address.

One of the two is a winner of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2009 and the other is a top finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search 2009. Both of them are programs of the Society for Science & the Public.

Two honored two young people are Li Boynton and Gabriela Farfan. Li is a high school senior from Houston, TX. Li was one of the top three winners in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2009 and is a semifinalist in the Intel Science Talent Search 2010. Meanwhile, Gabriel, of Madison, WI, currently a freshman at Stanford University, earned 10th place at the Intel Science Talent Search 2009.

Ahead of the State of the Union Address' time of 9 PM EST, Li and Gabriela will meet with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and Science and Technology advisor to the president John Holdren.

Separately, Intel planned to name 40 high school seniors as finalists in the Intel Science Talent Search 2010. This is America's oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition.

As the Intel Press Release said:

The finalists will gather in Washington, D.C. from March 11-16 to compete for $630,000 in awards. The top winner will receive $100,000 from the Intel Foundation. Visit www.intel.com/pressroom/kits/events/sts2010 after 4 p.m. EST for more information.
