Zelda Rubenstein, "Poltergeist" Actress, Dead at 76

Zelda Rubinstein, the actress best known for her role as a clairvoyant in "Poltergeist," has died. She was 76.

The 4'3" diminutive actress had never recovered fully from a minor heart attack several months ago. She had been left a patient at Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles. According to her agent, Eric Stevens,

"She had several pre-existing conditions that she had been dealing with for years, and unfortunately they began to overtake her."

Zelda Rubinstein is best remembered for her role as Tangina Barrons, the clairvoyant in "Poltergeist," the 1982 film. She also reprised the same role in "Poltergeist II" and "III." As well, she had a guest role (not as Tangina Barrons) on an episode in the TV show "Poltergeist: The Legacy."

According to her agent, per Rubinstein's request there will be no funeral. Instead, there are plans for a celebration of her life to be held at the end of February.
