TurboTax To Tweet Tax Help

Launching today is a new Twitter effort by Intuit, makers of TurboTax and Quicken. The company has 14 people working to help taxpayers with tax tips and software help.

The Twitter account, should you decide to follow it, is its @teamturbotax account. CoTweet, the Twitter CRM software that several other big brands use, including Best Buy and Ford, will be running the show for Intuit.

TurboTax also has a Facebook page as well, so this is just another example of Intuit wanting to use social media to help its customers. OF course, sometimes Intuit doesn't help its customers.

In 2003, Intuit added C-Dilla copy protection to its product. That change was hammered by consumers, as C-Dilla, at the time, was known for making changes to the hard drive that wouldn't be removed when the product was uninstalled.

Last year, Intuit tried charging users an additional $9.95 for each additional return they prepared, regardless of whether or not the return was printed or filed electronically. They soon thought better of this.

In each of these times, competitors, such as H&R Block's Taxcut (now called the cumbersome H&R Block At Home, took advantage of the situation to attempt to increase market share. Still, TurboTax is the top seller among tax preparation software.

If you take a look at their Facebook or Twitter accounts, it looks like Intuit is already busily answering tax questions. Even without TurboTax, get in there and ask your questions.
