Top Recruit Seantrel Henderson May Change Mind

Top rated college recruit Seantrel Henderson may not be a USC Trojan, at least not yet. Although it was reported he had chosen USC, late reports Wednesday night indicate there is some concern among the Henderson family of possible USC recruiting violations.

While he announced his intention to go to USC, he has not signed an official letter of intent yet. As such, any celebration by new Trojans coach Lane Kiffin will have to wait.

According to the report, which first surfaced in the NYT, Sean Henderson, Seantrel Henderson's father, said that he will wait until USC appears before an NCAA infractions committee on Feb. 19-21. That hearing will determine if USC faces any possible sanctions for the program over recruiting violations.

If sanctions are issued, obviously Seantrel Henderson will opt for his second choice, which would be Ohio State. Also obviously, these infractions would have been conducted under the watch of former USC coach Pete Carroll, who has since bolted for the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks. The sanctions would be a legacy that Lane Kiffin would not be happy to receive.

It's true, however, that the Trojans are not likely to hear about any possible sanctions at that time. However, Sean Henderson said the hearing would give the family an indication of what the future might hold. Seantrel Henderson has until April 1 to sign a letter of intent.
