Dr. Conrad Murray, pretty much an unknown prior to his association with Michael Jackson, is now famous. On Monday, he may move to the infamous category, as prosecutors announced on Friday.
Interestingly, Murray and his lawyers attempted to keep things more private, by avoiding an arrest and handcuffing. They wanted to have Murray turn himself in, but that plan was derailed when prosecutors made their announcement.
District attorney’s spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons released the plan less than two hours before Dr. Conrad Murray and his lawyers planned to have Murray turn himself in.
It is unclear if Murray, who has a practice in Houston, TX, will return there for the weekend, or stay in Los Angeles. However, his lawyers did have their feathers ruffled by the change in plans.
It has been months since Michael Jackson's death last June 25th. Murray’s attorneys expect the cardiologist to be charged with involuntary manslaughter. One of his lawyers, Miranda Sevcik said that prosecutors told Murray on Thursday he’d face one count of involuntary manslaughter.
Earlier, however, the lawyer of Michael Jackson’s family said they believe that involuntary manslaughter charges against Murray would be “just a slap on the wrist.” Attorney Brian Oxman said that Wednesday, when appearing on CBS' "The Early Show."
