
These sorts of incidents have become far too common. At Discovery Middle School in Madison, Alabama, a ninth grade student shot another ninth grade student on Friday. The shooting victim has been rushed to Huntsville Hospital.
Madison Police have the alleged shooter in custody. Due to his age, he has not been publicly identified.
The 15-year-old shooting victim was reportedly in critical condition. He had reportedly been shot in the head.
According to Discovery Middle School's website, no others at Discovery Middle School were hurt. It is currently unclear what prompted the shooting, which took place on Friday afternoon.
The shooting happened at 1:46 PM Friday, in the ninth grade hallway at Discovery Middle School. A school resource officer stationed inside the school immediately responded. Firefighters located at Fire Station 2, which is located across the street from the school, were on the scene within two minutes.
Discovery Middle School hosts grades 7-9. Madison is a small town of about 37,000 residents. Reportedly, Madison's largest employer is Intergraph, a computer software company based in Madison.
