A Starr has received a star. Ringo Starr's Hollywood Walk of Fame was unveiled on Monday night. Starr was joined by his wife of 30 years, actress Barbara Bach.

The Beatles as a group were given a star in 1998. Ringo Starr, receiving his award at night, said the following: "This is the start of the next 50 years of stars. I'm proud to be the first one. It's cool to get one at night. I don't know about you, but where I live, the stars come out at night."
The Walk of Fame also includes individual stars for the drummer’s former Beatles bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison. The 50th anniversary celebration will continue throughout the year.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame started with a few "demonstration" stars in 1953. It became official with a dedication in 1960. It is considered one of Southern California's top tourist attractions, with an estimated 15-million visitors annually.
