USA Beat The Swiss In Hockey Opener

Team USA, who are somewhat reveling in their underdog status, came out strong on Tuesday in their Olympic Hockey opener with a 3-1 victory over Team Switzerland, with Bobby Ryan opening the scoring for the US team.

Bobby Ryan is a right wing for Anaheim Ducks in the NHL. He won the NHL Rookie of the Year award last season.

Bobby Ryan slipped in an unassisted goal with 61 seconds left in the first period against Swiss goaltender Jonas Hiller. Meanwhile, U.S. goalie Ryan Miller might have had a shutout, if not for Roman Wick's bad-bounce goal on a power play midway through the third period.

Strangely, Bobby Ryan is on the fourth line. Meanwhile, David Backes of the St. Louis Blues, another fourth liner, made it 2-0 at 5:52 of the second period. Team USA's final goal came by Tampa Bay's Ryan Malone, who struck at 8:25 of the second, on the power play.
