Day One NCAA Bracket Update Shows Obama's Final Four OK

Thursday was the first day of the 2010 NCAA Basketball tournament. We have an NCAA bracket update (PDF) below, but the big question for political junkies is: how did President Barack Obama's bracket do?

In 2009, Obama correctly picked North Carolina to take it all. This year, a quick look at the NCAA bracket update from the NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010 scores shows the good news that his Final Four is stil intact. The bad news, however, is that the Big East conference let him down.

Of course, the NCAA bracket update shows the Big East probably let a number of folks down. After all, who would have predicted that 14th-seeded Ohio would upset 3rd-seeded Georgetown 97-83.

That was the most stunning upset shown in NCAA bracket update from the NCAA Basketball Tournament 2010 scores. There were others, but those were more reasonable sixth-seed vs. 11th seed losses (Notre Dame losing to Old Dominion, Marquette edged by Washington), eighth vs. ninth (Texas losing to Wake Forest), seventh vs. tenth (Richmond losing to St. Mary's).

There was another near-upset, which would likely have thrown the NCAA bracket update into a tizzy: No. 2 seed Villanova survived a big scare from No. 15 seed Robert Morris in a 73-70 overtime victory.
