The title of Captain America alone gives you a hint that it is also a lead-in to "The Avengers," Marvel's superhero group (or one of them), which will see its own movie in May of 2012. Starring in that film will be Captain America (Chris Evans), The Black Widow (from Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson), Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo / Lou Ferrigno).
The trailer, shown at the end of the special showings, is shaky-cam footage. That means it was taken via cell phone camera, and it's dark and shaky. Still, it's clear is about the Avengers, particularly with the "Some Assembly Required" tagline.
In addition to the trailer leak, it was confirmed on Monday that "Captain America" will open first in Comic-Con in San Diego. Convention-goers will be the first public viewers to be able to see the film, beginning at noon PST on Thursday, July 21st, one day ahead of its U.S. opening.
Additionally, those early ticketholders will receive RealD® 3D Collector’s Custom red, white and blue "Captain America: The First Avenger" glasses and a limited edition poster designed exclusively for the fans. The showtimes for the special Comic-Con screenings are: 12:00 P.M., 12:45 P.M., 2:45 P.M., 3:30 P.M., 5:30 P.M., 6:15 P.M., 8:15 P.M., 9:00 P.M., 11:00 P.M. and 11:45 P.M. The movie will play exclusively at the United Artists Horton Plaza, with Captain America-themed events throughout the day.
Additionally, to help kick-off the movie, Paramount and Marvel will host an exclusive free fan screening at 10 A.M. with the movie’s star Chris Evans (Steve Rogers / Captain America) on-hand to introduce the screening.
