Demi Moore seeking treatment at renowned rehab center

Demi Moore

The actress Demi Moore, who collapsed at home on January 23 after smoking a mystery substance, is reportedly receiving treatment at a famed Utah recovery center for substance abuse and an eating disorder.

E! News reports that the 49-year-old is being treated at Cirque Lodge in Sundance, Utah, and she has acknowledged her issues are big. "She's on total lockdown and only talking to a small group of people," a source told E! of Moore.

The exclusive Cirque Lodge is known for its individualized approach to addiction treatment and has helped numerous stars in the past, including Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen and Eva Mendas, among others.

The decision to seek treatment probably comes in the nick of time for the actress, who has been reportedly spiraling out of control with her hard party ways and her plummeting weight. When paramedics arrived to treat the star after her collapse, they reportedly thought they were dealing with a cancer patient on chemo who had smoked too much medical marijuana.

"Everyone thought she was going to die," a source told Us Weekly magazine of the night Moore was urgently transported to Sherman Oaks Hospital after collapsing at her home during another bout of revelry. The star’s 23-year-old daughter Rumer Willis was present at the time. "It was terrifying."

The new issue of Us Weekly describes what the tabloids have been speculating all along: the episode was the culmination of a months-long downward spiral for the actress, manifested mostly as an increasingly frail figure and considerable substance abuse. The latter is said to have been a contributing factor to the star’s marriage breakup to Ashton Kutcher. The issues only got worse once the pair separated in November.

"Demi's life is in complete crisis. She has spiraled since her split from Ashton," says a source of Moore. She adds that Moore displayed other bizarre behavior, such as chasing after her daughter Rumer’s 24-year-old pal Zac Efron. "She is turning 50 in November and has no idea who she is or what her life should be,” the source added.

That sentiment seems to echo other’s perceptions about Moore. The actress, once one of the highest-grossing Hollywood stars at her professional peak in the 1990’s, has apparently struggled with professional and personal insecurities. Professionally, she desperately wants to stay relevant. Personally, she wants to stay young and desirable. Apparently she feels lacking in both.
