Seventy-five years of history mean a lot of history, and although the company couldn't go that far back to get a signature vehicle for the Glaze the Nation Tour, it went some 52 years back. The Krispy Kreme Cruiser, somewhat reminiscent of the company's early years when it would utilize a small fleet of trucks to deliver its doughnuts, is a newly restored 1960 Flxible Starliner. Krispy Kreme "ambassadors" who will guide their new "sweet ride" across America as they invite doughnut fans to join in on the 75th birthday celebration of what is arguably the world's most famous doughnut.

The Cruiser was unveiled on Thursday, February 23, at an event held in Daytona Beach, FL that saw hundreds of fans come out. Also there were, of course, considering it was Daytona Beach, some former NASCAR drivers from the Petty family: Richard, Kyle, and Austin Petty,

Dwayne Chambers, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme said, "Because our purpose is to 'touch and enhance lives through the joy that is Krispy Kreme' we felt it was important to get out of our shops and take the party on the road. We searched the entire country to find a vehicle that had just the right balance of nostalgia, retro and cool. There were a lot of possibilities, but our search always seemed to come back to the Flxible."

Car fans will recognize the Flxible. TV show host Jay Leno, for example, has a 1961 Flxible Starliner, as part of his famous huge garage of classic vehicles.

According to the Glaze the Nation Tour website, the next stop for the Cruiser will be Lakeland, FL. The event is described as follows:

"Join us in Lakeland, FL for a family fun night filled with games, giveaways, prizes, balloons, and appearance from a local radio station."
