Lindsay Lohan's first 2012 'incident' as the actress sued for striking pedestrian in 2010

Lindsay Lohan can't seem to stay out of the negative side of the news for very long, as we are not even one month into 2012 and the latest event in the trouble young actress' life involves a lawsuit by a pedestrian allegedly struck by the star's car.

Lindsay Lohan, 25, has been sued by Nubia Del Carmen Preza, a nanny, who claims that Lohan hit her while driving her Maserati. The incident reportedly occurred in September of 2010.

Back then, reports said that Lohan ran a red light in her Maserati sports car in West Hollywood. She hit a nanny who was pushing a stroller --- with a child in it --- across the intersection.

According to the witness, three out of the four wheels of the stroller were lifted off the ground. While the child wasn't injured, Nubia Del Carmen Preza claims she was hurt in the incident.

The lawsuit says that Preza has suffered "disabling and serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish." It goes on to state that Preza is seeking damages for her medical expenses as well as lost time at work.

It's the "first" negative incident of 2012 for Lohan, who saw 2011 continue a tumultuous last few years.

One of the more infamous Lohan-esque incidents of 2011 began on February 9, 2011, when the actress was charged with the theft of a necklace reported stolen from a jewelry store in January. She was eventually sentenced to 120 days in jail, 360 hours of community service at the Downtown Women's Center, and 120 hours at the L.A. County morgue for misdemeanor theft and probation violation, to which Lohan pleaded no contest.

Typical of celebrities and Los Angeles jails, Lohan didn't spend a lot of time behind bars. Due to jail overcrowding, Lohan served the sentence under house arrest, wearing a ankle bracelet, for 35 days between May 26 and June 29. While under house arrest, Lohan failed a random alcohol test, but Judge Stephanie Sautner decreed it did not constitute a probation violation, saying "You are not guilty of a probation violation, but what you are guilty of is extremely poor judgment. You are not to have parties. You are to have one friend over at a time, plus family and business dealings."

Later in the year, though, on October 19, 2011, that same judge, Judge Stephanie Sautner revoked Lindsay Lohan's probation and placed her behind bars with a $100,000 bail, which Lohan met. Sautner told Lohan that in order to avoid any further punishment, she must complete 16 hours of community service at the Los Angeles morgue before her next hearing.

At a November 2nd hearing, Lohan was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail and 400 hours of community service. Once again, because of overcrowding, she spent minimal time behind bars, a total of five hours, in fact.
