43-year-old Wayne Carter is the person involved, and New Jersey is the location. Hackensack, New Jersey Police said they received a call at 10 p.m. Sunday night from an unknown person, who said that Carter had a knife and was threatening to hurt himself.
When police officers arrived at his home, on Clay Street, they kicked in a door to his room, which had been blocked with furniture, in order to enter. Once in the room, they found Carter in the corner with a knife in his hand. Carter stood up, and yelled at police while at the same time repeatedly stabbing himself. Police officers saw Carter's intestines protruding from a wound in his abdomen; Carter had essentially eviscerated himself. Carter allegedly threw some of his skin and intestines at officers as they tried to enter the room, authorities said.
Officers ordered him to drop the kitchen knife, which was 12-inches in length, but he refused. Although, officers sprayed two cans of pepper spray at him, it had no effect. After that, police retreated and called in the SWAT team, who subdued him with beanbag projectiles.
One police official said, “The scene was a bloody mess. The SWAT team members had to be decontaminated due to the amount of blood.”
Carter underwent emergency surgery, and remained in critical condition on Tuesday. He has had a history of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and has been taken to the hospital for psychiatric reasons in the past, authorities said. While a psychotic break is a possibility, police are also awaiting the results of a blood test to determine if Carter had ingested any psychoactive substances.
Carter reportedly damaged a major stomach artery and sustained over 50 stab wounds.
Truly, not real Zombie Apocalypse activity, as a zombie would have eaten another persons intestines, but strange, nonetheless. It comes on the heels of a report over the weekend, from Miami, Fla., involving a man ingesting most of another man's face, and growling at police when they attempted to stop him.
