Justin Timberlake, who is known for his love of privacy, has proposed in late December to Jessica Biel, reports Us Weekly magazine.

The gossip rag reports that Timberlake proposed to Biel while the two were vacationing in Jackson, Wyoming. Biel is said to love snowboarding and the mountains there.

The pair first came together in 2007, when Timberlake and Biel attended the Sundance Film Festival in Utah together. They remained a regular staple of tabloid stories and paparazzi snapshots until last March, when they split up, but only temporarily. They were back together by the fall. The romantic break was probably never all that serious, since Timberlake waxed poetic about Biel even during their time off.

"She is the single-handedly most significant person in my life ... In my 30 years, she is the most special person, ok? I just don't want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me - for instance, her," he said to Vanity Fair in a June interview.

That’s quite a bit of disclosure for a man whose romantic life has largely been only speculated about. The strict need for privacy may have come as a result of the fallout following his split with Britney Spears back in 2002. He and Spears, with whom he had worked on the New Mickey Mouse Club, began a relationship sometime in early 1999 after many years of friendship. The romance was highly publicized in the media, as was its sudden demise three years later. The breakup influenced the lyrics and theme of Timberlake's hit "Cry Me a River", one of the most popular singles from his very successful album Justified.

Post Spears, Timberlake’s love life became extremely low key. He was briefly linked to Beyonce Knowles, Janet Jackson and Alyssa Milano. In 2003 Timberlake began a tumultuous relationship with Cameron Diaz, which ended in December of 2006. A month later, he was first linked with Biel, when pictures surfaced of the two snowboarding in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival.

Biel, an actress, was cast in her first top-billing role in 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Also in 2003, Biel began work on the third installment of the Blade film series, Blade: Trinity. Almost immediately after finishing it in 2004, she headed to Australia to shoot the action-thriller Stealth. In late 2007, Biel signed on to play a stripper in Powder Blue, alongside Forest Whitaker (who also produced the film), Ray Liotta and Patrick Swayze.
