Texas Ballet Theater Welcomes Back Lone Star Adagio

John Toohey, managing director of Texas Ballet Theater, announced the return of Lone Star Adagio, a membership group dedicated to celebrating and raising awareness of Texas Ballet Theater, the region’s premier professional ballet company.

Members of Lone Star Adagio enjoy social activities, community service opportunities, mingling with the company dancers, exclusive invitations to private events and more, all designed to promote the growth and appreciation of ballet in Dallas.

“Texas Ballet Theater underwent re-branding back in 2003 and Lone Star Adagio was put on hold,” said Toohey. “Due to interest in the group and demand for a social support group for Texas Ballet Theater, we have spent the past year revitalizing and rebuilding Lone Star Adagio. This interest is indicative of the growth of support Texas Ballet Theater is experiencing in Dallas.”

Lone Star Adagio will generate additional awareness and appreciation for the Ballet and its world-renowned artistic director, Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., as Texas Ballet Theater prepares to take its place as a resident company at the Margo and Bill Winspear Opera House at the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) in the fall of 2009. Appointed in 2003, Stevenson’s vision has been met with rave reviews, sold-out audiences and countless standing ovations.

Invitations to join Lone Star Adagio will be mailed in July, and the kick-off event will take place at the Ballet’s “Open House” held at the DCPA Preview Center, where attendees will view models of the new buildings. The Preview Center is located on the Mezzanine Level of the Trammell Crow building at 2001 Ross Avenue.

Texas Ballet Theater opens its Dallas season with Majestic Celebration, October 5, 6 and 7, 2007 at the historic Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas. The Ballet has added six additional performances in Dallas for the 2007-08 Season and will present the world premiere of Jazz Royalty featuring Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth in February. -- www.texasballettheater.org
