Report: Sedaris Story Rejected

Association cites grounds of extreme cruelty.

NEW YORK, NY (October 29, 2008) A story submitted by actress/comedian Amy Sedaris was rejected today by The Storyteller’s Association.

The reason: Extreme cruelty.

At press time, Ms. Sedaris, a Greek, could not be reached for comment.

The text of the rejection letter is reproduced below:

Dear Amy Sedaris:

We regret to inform you that your story has been rejected.

Grounds: Extreme cruelty.

Due to the large number of submissions made to us, we regret that we cannot supply a more detailed critique of your story.

Please note that your story was also rejected by the 75-year-old Mothers’ Club, and on the same grounds.

Your story was rejected despite the expenditure of massive amounts of money. For future reference, the expenditure of massive amounts of money does not in and of itself create a good story.

Feel free to submit your story to other outlets, including Bravo.

You have the right to appeal this ruling – but I don’t exactly know to whom.

Sincerely,

Storyteller’s Assistant No. 12

P.S. Your membership in PETA has also been revoked.
