Illinois Museum Presents ‘Making My Museum’

Posted August 31st, 2007 by ruzik_tuzik

On Saturday, September 8, the Illinois State Museum Super Saturday program series will host "Making My Museum: Dynamic Dioramas and Awesome Art." Get creative and design your own museum displays.

Make a diorama for your favorite animal and create expressive works of art to show in A Place for Discovery! Most activities can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes, although participants are welcome to stay for as long as they wish. Parents are invited to participate with their children. All Super Saturdays are designed especially for children 4-8 years old and are free and open to the public. The Super Saturday series is sponsored by the Bank of Springfield.

A Place for Discovery is a hands-on gallery for children on the lower level of the Illinois State Museum. It is a great place for children to touch objects similar to those on display in the Museum.

The Museum is located at 502 S. Spring St. (the corner of Spring and Edwards Streets) in Springfield, and is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Parking is available nearby, and the building is accessible to individuals with disabilities. -- www.museum.state.il.us
