Luke will explore Kahlo’s personal life and deeply mexicanist persona through the use of slides and documentary films from his extensive research library. This talk is given in conjunction with Frida: Public Image, Private Life. A Collection of Photographs and Letters on display at NMWA through October 14, 2007.
Luke is the former Consul for the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Los Angeles, Deputy Director of the Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington D.C., and First Secretary of the Embassy of Mexico in Washington D.C. He has lectured extensively on Mexican art in museums and universities in Mexico, Europe, and the United States.
