Lockets of blonde hair cut from the head of American film superstar Sarah Jessica Parker, which vanished mysteriously from the public eye when an Ebay listing was abruptly closed last weekend prior to a final sale, have finally surfaced –- in Brazil.

The Ebay listing for the hair was cancelled and the locks of hair were acquired privately by Brazilian real estate developers João Paulo Falleiros dos Santos Diniz and Rogério Marco Fasano to be put on display at Shopping Cidade Jardim of Sao Paolo – a luxury shopping development on the city’s south side.

Although only open one day, the exhibit of Parker’s hair -- along with super-large photos of the star and her “Sex and the City” co-stars Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall -- has already seen 2,100 visitors pass through its turnstiles. The exhibit also has several one-inch squares cut from pillowcases the Beatles once slept on.

Parker recently filmed a highly successful television ad for the mall, and developers were thrilled when some of Parker’s hair came on the market and jumped at the chance to offer shoppers “a piece of the true Sarah Jessica Parker experience.”

“Sarah Jessica Parker is currently one of the highest-profile American actresses in Brazil, and many of our high-end shoppers seek to imitate her sense of brave freedom and her keen sense of life and style – not to mention her ability to run in high heels,” said Palleiros dos Santos Diniz. “It is no lie when I say that you cannot walk down a block in Sao Paolo without seeing Sarah Jessica Parker’s smiling face and tousled blonde hair.”

The blonde locks came from a recent restyling Parker underwent – to the shock of stargazers, Parker is now down from a full-blown “Sex in the City” length to a stunning pixie cut style with a plump fringe. The star reportedly cut her hair in order to audition for a small but coveted part in the upcoming beatnik movie “Howl,” to be executive produced by Gus Van Sant.

“Sex and the City” has only now begun to run as a television series in Brazil – and is the number one show among women. The recent “Sex and the City” film has taken in over $500 million worldwide for Warner’s New Line films. What accounts for the huge popularity of Parker and her “Sex and the City” franchise in Brazil?

"The role of women in the Brazilian culture has evolved, and the plotlines and themes of ‘Sex and the City’ perfectly reflect that evolution," said relationship advice author Steven Carter, whose books for women have been on Brazil’s best-seller’s list for the past 100 weeks. "If you think of the U.S. 20 years ago, I think this same realization of economic and personal freedom by women is happening right now in Brazil. Women there are rethinking their roles and throwing out that which limits or doesn’t work for them personally. The single women in Brazil aspire to be casual and carefree like Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw.”

And Carter should know. Although he is an American, his self-help book for single women, "What Smart Women Know," which sold almost half a million copies in the U.S., has already sold over 400,000 copies in Brazil. Its sequel, "Men Like Women Who Like Themselves" has already sold more than 100,000 copies through the self-help and spirituality publishing company GMT Sextante. Carter’s biggest book in the U.S. was “Men Who Can’t Love,” which stayed five weeks on the New York Times bestseller’s list and which has sold 7 million copies worldwide.

“Brazilian women today, many of them would agree with the ‘Sex and the City’s’ character Samantha that they are “trysexuals” – they will try anything once,” says Carter, whose relationship book has now been on the Brazilian best-seller’s list for over 100 weeks now.

With overwhelming popularity in both the U.S. and Brazilian market – which is 187 million strong -- Parker and Carter along with Carter’s co-author Julia Sokol have just inked a deal to create a “Sex and the City Love and Dating Handbook” to debut in both Brazil and the U.S. at the time the “Sex and the City” film sequel is released, which now looks to be the summer of 2010.

“With ‘Sex and the City’s’ Sarah Jessica Parker co-authoring with New York Times ‘Men Who Can’t Love’s’ best-selling relationship experts and all of that synergy combined with a major film release, we’re looking at advance printings of 800,000 minimum in both America and Brazil,” said Carter’s new book agent, Joan Gachet. “So it’s a very exciting project and one that will help women worldwide – and a very easy sell to Warner’s Jamie Raab, Rick Wolff and Nancy Wiess over in England.” Candace Bushnell will author a forward for the book.

Carter’s book “Men Who Can’t Love” played a cameo role in Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt starrer “The Mexican,” in which a man tries to transport an ancient gun called “The Mexican,” believed to carry a curse, back across the border, while his girlfriend pressures him to give up his criminal ways. That film was directed by Gore Verbinski, and co-starred Sherman Augustus, Bob Balaban, J.K Simmons, James Gandolfini, and Richard Coca.

“Sex in the City” is set in New York City. The show focuses on four women, three in their mid-thirties and one in her forties. The sitcom has serialized story lines as well as dramatic elements, and tackles socially relevant issues such as sexually transmitted diseases, safe sex, multiple partners, promiscuity and often specifically dealing with women in society in the late 1990s, and how changing roles and definitions for women affected the characters.

The narrative of the show focuses on Carrie and her three best friends. The women discuss their sexual desires and fantasies and their travails in life and love. The show often depicts frank discussions about romance and sexuality, particularly in the context of being a single woman in her mid-thirties.
