While there are a range of issues that could be explored, the programme will not be able to address them all. Therefore we are currently consulting with members of the LGBT community to help shape the programme, and would value your feedback.
If you are interested in giving us your views, please download the questionnaire on the right hand side of this page and return it to the Gallery via the FREEPOST address given by 14 September 2007.
As you might be aware, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) co-ordinates a biennial programme of Contemporary Art and Human Rights exhibitions. This programme has developed a distinctive, audience-centred approach which reflects Glasgow's commitment to artistic quality, public engagement, social justice and equality.
Previous programmes have explored issues surrounding asylum seekers and refugees (2003), violence against women (2005), and sectarianism (2007).
GoMA is now looking to develop a programme of exhibitions, events, workshops and outreach projects in 2008/9 to explore issues faced by LGBT communities, both locally and globally.
In practice, the Contemporary Art and Human Rights programme is delivered through large-scale combined exhibition, outreach and education programmes, and we are becoming recognised within the museum sector as leaders in this field.
However, the success of the programme relies heavily on the participation of communities in shaping the programme, so we are currently seeking the input of members of the LGBT community. -- www.glasgowmuseums.com
