Talk show invites star of “The Women” to “state” her case to America.
David Letterman may be making actress Eva Mendes, star of the box-office hit “The Woman,” an offer she can’t refuse: Tell America how many states you’ve made love in, and we’ll give away tickets to your new film, "The Women."
Mendes was stung by stories in numerous English tabloids this week, including The Sun, alleging the sultry Cuban-American actress once went on a 50-state-sex spree.
Mendes counters that “she never admitted that” and that the number of U.S. states that she has had sex in is a “personal and private affair.”
But as one Letterman producer says: “All of America is still wondering, ‘How many states has Eva really made love in?’ And we love Eva – she is great in ‘The Women’ – and we’d love to have her on the show and let our studio audience guesstimate the real number of states she has made love in, with the winners getting free tickets to see her new film.”
The Letterman staff itself, says the producer, has made guesses ranging from a low of 12 states to a high of 39 states.
“No one here seriously thinks Eva has made love in North Dakota, South Dakota or even Misssissippi,” says one Letterman staffer. “And Montana and Idaho are also a bit iffy. But you just never know.”
Mendes is currently starring in the role Joan Crawford originated in “The Women,” which has just hit theaters in the U.S. and England. The remake of the 1939 classic, directed by Diane English, opened to strong reviews, and also stars Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Candice Bergen, Bette Midler, Debi Mazur, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Mendes has also just launched a new home furnishings line through Macy’s – with her new line of bedding making its debut on Macy’s shelves later this fall.
